We realize the focus that a Pathway as
an "assignment" can provide is beneficial to many students,
while at the same time it can also be very valuable to
simply allow your students to explore the museum at their
whim, with both hands free.
We are always looking for new ideas and materials to add
to this site. A short
Pathway that introduces students to basic concepts
of magnets. See why
things stand up and fall down. A Pathway
that shows what happens when magnets and
electricity work together. Go eye to
eye with eyes. In honor
of Black History Month, this information is
provided as an addendum to Pathways.

Exploratorium Pathways
are a way to facilitate engagement with Exploratorium
exhibits while providing a coherent theme for your students'
visit. The exhibits contained in each Pathway do not
constitute all the exhibits relevant to the Pathway's theme,
nor do the questions asked within the Pathway constitute all
of the relevant questions that may be asked. You are
encouraged to use these Pathways as ways to integrate your
Exploratorium visit into your regular classroom curriculum.
Of course, the best way to do this is by visiting the museum
yourself beforehand, and coming up with your own questions
and exhibits to complement the Pathway. But, as we know that
a pre-visit is difficult for many teachers, we provide a
teacher's version of each Pathway, with more information on
the exhibits listed and suggestions for their use in your
curriculum.
We'd appreciate any comments or suggestions you might
have about our Pathways.
Do you have an idea for a Pathway?

it, you will be given credit for your submission. Click the

your document as an attachment. Thank you for helping make
material available for other teachers.
