Regarding IEP's, because they contain confidential data many districts 
keep them under lock & key in the counselor's office (or elsewhere).  
The truth is,  it is frequently inconvenient or nearly impossible to 
view the IEP's in a timely fashion.  What then do you do?  Your best.  
That is all you can do and it has to be enough.  As early in the 
semester as possible make your best effort to know what the handicapping 
condition is and how it will impact your lesson presentation, student 
participation, and evaluation.  Then proceed with specific goals for 
that student in your classroom.
