Wednesday, 10/10/01, celebrate the nine-minute film by Charles and Ray
Eames that is the Learning Studio's single most-requested video. In
addition to looping the film itself all day, the site at
http://www.powersof10.com/p10_day/index.php3
includes events, classroom activities, tools for getting a handle on the
concepts of scale and time, the Eames take on Charles Darwin, and -- for
those of you who keep the video out till it's overdue, then want to renew
it -- ordering information on Powers Of Ten in several formats, and other
Eames Office math products.
And if you can visit the new Mathematica exhibit, here till May of next
year, give yourself a treat! Parts of it are online at
http://www.exploratorium.edu/mathematica/index.html
but you really need to experience in person the dance floor that maps
equidistant points, the bell curve builder, and the astonishing houses of
cards. See you there --
