Hi Jennifer,
Silicones are chemical compounds with an (Si-O)n backbone. the length of the
backbone and the nature of the side groups determines the properties of
silicones. Some are runny liquids, some greases, some like rubber, and some
are hard plastics. They are noted for their resistance to heat and their
chemical inertness. This later property was what made silicones attractive as
breast implants.
