Ravenswood City Schools in East Palo Alto mandates a full year of
science in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. However, in most schools in
the district, 6th grade is self-contained and therefore the
responsibility falls on the individual, single-subject teachers...
whom most of feel uncomfortable about teaching science and therefore
simply do not do it very often. In some classes, however,science is
covered very well... all year,in all self-contained levels from K-6.
