There has been a dig going on for some time at the Presidio. I called a few
years ago and the leader was very amicable to having a class visit.
Unfortunately, they work mostly in the summers and I lost contact, so I don't
remember the exact person to speak with or if they are working right now.
Cal also has a program where archaeology students will visit a classroom and
do lessons on archaeology.
You might also be able to get materials and lesson plans from the Oakland
Museum of California.
There are also lessons being prepared for the SFUSD website based on World
History from a global point of view. Some of the ancient history lessons
will focus on the interaction of humans and the natural environment and how
that related to the development of agriculture and early civilization. I'm
working on that project and will pass on that information when it the site is
up and running.
Hope that helps.
Theresa
