Dear SnackTalk:

In the online activity, "Reflections of a Star - How to Find the
[Apparent] Angular Diameter of the Sun," the Sun's image is reflected from
a mirror through a bottle of water onto a white projection screen. The
idea seems simple enough, although there is no mention of the purpose of
the bottle of water--why not simply reflect the Sun's image directly onto
a projection screen? Enquiring minds want to know!
