The Special Libraries Association (SLA) has recently created an official
caucus within its organization called the Architecture, Building
Engineering, Construction and Design (ABCD) Caucus. An SLA Caucus is an
informal group within SLA intended to serve as a focus for the
interaction of members who share a common interest not covered by any
SLA chapter, division, or committee. The ABCD Caucus seeks to serve
those information professionals working for public and private
organizations in the building and real estate trades. This includes,
but is not limited to, Architecture, Building Engineering, Construction,
Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Development, Public Works,
Historic Preservation, Urban Planning/Urban Design, Planning, and Real
Estate.

 

One of the most important components of our new ABCD Caucus is its
discussion list. The members of the ABCD Caucus have decided that an
information professional doesn't need to be a member of SLA in order to
join the discussion list. Therefore, if you are an informational
professional who is currently working in one of these trades, or who is
interested in these trades, you are being requested and encouraged to
join the list. The current members feel that this is a service that is
greatly needed in our professions, and know that a larger discussion
list membership will help all of us as we combine our talents and
experiences. To join the ABCD Caucus discussion list, go here:

message to the entire list by sending the message to:
