The Association of Independent Information Professionals
Invites Nominations for the Annual AIIP Technology Award
Award Description and Instructions for Nominees
The Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) is
pleased to announce the fourth Annual AIIP Technology Award, created
to recognize innovative products that enhance the working environment
of the independent information professional.
AIIP invites any company or individual producing information products
(databases, web organizers, Internet sites) to enter the competition.
Successful entries will be new products or technologies (launched
since January 2001) that help information professionals with their
day-to-day operations in locating, analyzing and organizing
information. The product must be related to the information field;
AIIP does not consider accounting, word-processing, database or
spreadsheet, or other programs not directly related to locating,
analyzing, or organizing data appropriate for this award. The
deadline for nominations is October 4, 2002.
A panel consisting of five AIIP members will judge each entry on the
basis of usability, speed and content, if relevant. Panel members
will directly evaluate the product if possible, and will otherwise
interview users. The AIIP Technology Award will be presented to the
winner at the Internet Librarian Conference (
http://www.infotoday.com/il2002 ), to be held in Palm Springs, CA
November 4-6, 2002.
AIIP was founded in 1987. Our membership today exceeds 750
individuals in 20 countries and consists of owners of
information-related businesses. AIIP members offer expert online,
Internet and manual research; provide document delivery, database
design, library support and consulting services; and are writers and
editors. Members provide services to a wide variety of clients,
ranging from small companies to the Fortune 500.
Please send nominations and requests for entry forms to Federico
